A FEW IMPORTANT PARTS
Why should I Install a Power Drain Plug?
Old oil is evacuated through the new power drain plug using a high power suction • Removes more used oil from engine than old conventional gravity drain • Never needs to be re-moved but easily can be • Better for the environment.
What is a PCV Valve?
This stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation, and it regulates pressure and flow of crankcase gas vapors into the engine's emission control system and back to the combustion chambers. A clean PCV Valve reduces engine sludge, varnish buildup, and the amount of exhaust emissions that enter the environment. What does a Cabin Air Filter do? An Air Filter?
A Cabin Air Filter removes dust, smog, and up to 99.5% of pollen, mold and other allergen contaminants from incoming air during heater, air conditioner and vent use. When this filter is dirty, airflow is reduced, a foul smell may be evident, and there is potential for reduced heater and air conditioner efficiency.
The Air Filter removes dust from the air before it enters the combustion chamber. A clean filter helps maximize fuel mileage and engine life
COOLING SYSTEM
Why does Oilstop recommend I change my coolant once a year or every 15,000 miles?
Over time, the coolant/antifreeze in your car's cooling system becomes contaminated and corrosion begins to occur. When this happens, it is extremely difficult and expensive to stop. To prevent corrosion from beginning, our experience has shown it's best to change coolant once a year or every 15,000 miles*. Regularly changing your coolant/antifreeze will extend the life of your water pump, heater core & radiator, and will meet or exceed your factory warranty requirements.
* Oilstop recommends changing extended life coolant every 3 years or 50,000 miles.
COMPUTERIZED TIRE INFLATION
According to National Car Care Council statistics, 54% of cars have under-inflated tires. This is a serious safety concern and dramatically shortens the life of your tires, as well as decrease gas mileage. To make certain your tires are inflated properly, Oilstop uses exclusive tire inflation computers that precisely adjust the pressure in your tires to the levels recommended by the vehicle's manufacturer. This service is provided each and every time you bring your vehicle to Oilstop.
TRANSMISSION
Why should I change the TRANSMISSION FLUID?
Transmission repair could cost $2,000-$4,000 • Transmission fluid works hard, becomes contaminated, and additives get depleted.
• Oilstop recommends changing transmission fluid regularly - automatic transmissions every 15,000 miles and between 15,000 and 30,000 miles for manual transmissions, depending on the manufacturer. This maximizes transmission life and keeps service and repair costs as low as possible • Oilstop carries required factory-branded transmission fluids from dealerships.
OILSTOP RECOMMENDS:
Why use Automatic Transmission Treatment?
• Extends transmission life • Reduces gear & bearing wear • Lowers operating temperature • Conditions & protects seals • Promotes smoother shifting • Rejuvenates vital additives.
Manual Transmissions & Differentials - Why use Gear Box Treatment?
Extends useful life • Reduces repair costs • Conditions & protects seals • Prevents sludge & varnish buildup • Promotes smoother gear operation • Maximizes horsepower efficiency.
FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER
What is a Fuel System Cleaner and how does it work?
A good Fuel System Cleaner effectively cleans fuel injectors, fuel lines, combustion chambers, and intake and exhaust valves. It also removes condensation from the fuel tank and fuel lines. Oilstop recommends THE VERY BEST in TECHRON Fuel System Cleaner by Chevron with every oil change, every 3,000 miles.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS
We don't take your wiper blades for granted.
Nothing can be more important to your driving safety than wiper blades that work properly. Rest assured; Oilstop stocks wiper blades that fit your car. They're competitively-priced, come with a six-month guarantee, and we'll install them for you at no charge
DIFFERENTIALS & TRANSFER CASE
What is a Front Differential? A Rear Differential? Do I have them?
Differentials have three jobs:
To transfer the engine power to the wheels • To act as the final gear reduction in the vehicle, slowing the rotational speed of the transmission one final time before it reaches the wheels • To transmit power to the wheels, allowing them to rotate at different speeds, hence the name differential.
Some front wheel drive cars have a front differential, rear wheel drives have a rear differential, and 4-wheel drive vehicles have both.
Does my car have a Transfer Case? What is it?
4-wheel drive vehicles have a Transfer Case that transfers power from the transmission to the front differential. Servicing should occur regularly and may involve a very specific fluid that Oilstop keeps in stock for you.
TAKING CARE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT
The used oil we collect is mixed with diesel and used as fuel for ocean-going commercial ships. What's more; we crush used oil filters and have them delivered to a steel company that reprocesses them into construction rebar, which is used to strengthen concrete.
